BIOGRAFIA:

Born in Spain, David felt a strong passion for storytelling from an early age. He finished his Bachelor’s degree at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. This city would open his eyes to the art of filmmaking: he shot three short films with renowned Spanish actors and also worked as a production assistant for Pedro Almodovar’s Production Company, El Deseo. In 2006 David moved to the US to begin the Directing Program at UCLA Film School. For his first film in English, The Breakfast, he worked with the Tony award winning actress, Cherry Jones. He screened his next movie, Portrait of a Couple, at the Palm Springs Short Film Festival and sold the broadcasting rights to LOGO TV. His most political film, Round Trip, was selected as a National Finalist for the 2009 Student Academy Awards and it won the Latino category of the 2009 DGA Student Awards. David Martin-Porras graduated with his Thesis film, The Widow, for which he won the DGA Student Latino Award for the second consecutive year. In 2010, David became a fellow of Film Independent’s Lab Project: Involve and he directed his first feature Stealing Summers in Buenos Aires with James Jagger, Sophie Auster and Wilson Bethel. At the moment, David is one of the episodic directors of the prestigious ABC/Disney DGA Directing Program, he has just finished his new short film Inside the Box starring Regina King, Wilson Bethel and Summer Glau and is developing his next feature A Texas Story, an intense thriller set in a small town in Texas.
