Francesco Giannini began making videos with his younger brother at the age of eight when his father gave him his first video camera. When reaching university level, his undergraduate studies in Sociology, Film Studies and Communications strengthened his technical and theoretical knowledge of media and film. At the age of eighteen, Francesco enrolled at the Montreal School of Performing Arts to hone his acting skills and to gain experience in working on professional film sets. Since then, he has been fortunate enough to get several small roles alongside famous actors and directors such as Susan Sarandon, Penelope Cruz, Gerard Butler, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Laurence, Hugh Jackman, Zach Snyder, Roland Emmerich and Bryan Singer. In 2010, he joined forces with Marrone Films, whose reputation has been inspirational and influential to Francesco. In recent years, Francesco has been producing and directing short films, web series, television shows, documentaries, and music videos. His first short film The Race of Life was screened at the 2012 Cannes Short Film Corner as well as the 2013 Canadian Film Festival. His most recent accomplishments include directing the electrifying pop video for Lukay’s hit single Dance with You, as well as bringing an Italian fable to life in The Prince. In 2013, Francesco launched his own production company, Franky Films Inc. As a young director and producer, he continues to develop his craft with experimental art films, stylish music videos, and original short films. His multidisciplinary background allows him to face the challenges of today’s ever-evolving film industry. For Francesco, media and film are not only a form of entertainment, but are also a form of artistic expression and self-reflection.
